March Goals & February recap

Is this month already over? HOW?

Well boy oh boy- that month sure went at lightening speed. I am not kidding! I feel like I was compiling the list from February just yesterday and that is crazy.

SO did you notice new things? new design? new components of sidebars, fonts etc. It’s a little scattered still as my friend @emilyfinta (she’s a cool human, follow her on twitter and take my  branding and design advice-hire her!) works out some kinks- but by next week I think we should be golden 😉 HINT: Golden. —>See that sidebar, there’s gold on it!

F e b r u a r y :

-consistency in blogging (MWF & Sun) –I wasn’t perfect with this; I was much more stable in January but I’m making a editorial calendar so I hope I can stay perfectly* consistent through March.

-finish design and clean up archives/categories-yes and no, but the new design is here and I’m finishing some components tonight!

-stay on daily schedule/on track with cleaning-My daily schedule is shot so that’s a huge no. But the cleaning has been pretty in control. Looking to do a Tour of our new place soon- since I never did one at move in. Would you like to see that? let me know in the comments!

-drink more water/shy away from soda- I did pretty great with this. We still had soda but, shied away and have been pacing myself. Drinking much more water than my normal measly amount.

-read daily- blogs, online articles, journals, articles, kindle books, books, magazines, audio books- just keep reading!-I have been doing so good at this. Reading, saving, tweeting, sharing and commenting are coming much more naturally to me now. It’s a part of a new daily routine.

-write 3 pen pals-  This got done. I know it’s minor but it’s still a good accomplishment! Letters go out today!

-get out and do something fun at least once this month– Unless you count the doctors’ as fun this one was a total flop.

-work on my self care routine-self care is on point! I’ve been enjoying my showers, burning incense, rec’d shows on DVR, talking with friends, doing all the things I enjoy!

m a r c h :

_post consistently-either M/W/F/Sun OR T/Th/Sun I will accept as long as I stay to this schedule

_come up with daily routine and stick with it (make it a main priority)

_get apartment tour posted and up by the 15th

_control email and find a system to filter/funnel make things easier

_finish one ebook : “adventures for the soul” read at night and do review?

_spend more quality time with Sean, make our couple time a priority as well

_plan 3 posts about marriage/chill nature of our marriage/couples date stuff/cheap dates/how to not care about “having kids” etc

_engage more social, plan regularly on Hootsuite and incorporate more outside links, pics, quotes, podcasts, videos etc for my audience to relate to me in some way

_write 3 more pen pals (reuse my new stationary)

_IF I go get my tattoo colored- blog about it, or move to April goals

 

I know all of this is do able, the point is to aim for these goals and do my very best to achieve them. I will do my very best this month to get back on top and try to also plan things in my ‘long-lost-not-used at all in February planner’.

February Goals

This January just came and went without warning and it just felt like a cold breeze. Why does the first month of the new year always just disappear before we even notice? But new month, fresh start! So let’s begin and reflect on what January had to offer and what I might have accomplished!

January Recap:

Personal:

Take a day off from social media day. (DONE)

Finish one book in January. (not done-but have been reading lately)

Daily schedule/weekly schedule, use E.C planner. (DONE)

Write 3 pen pals to stay in touch. (not done-move to February Goals)

Blog: BE CONSISTENT. If that means 3 days, stick with it- if you can do 5, stick with it; but don’t flake out on writing posts when you’ve gotten lazy. Quality over Quantity. (DONE) I might have missed a couple days but for two or three weeks I was SOLID! Much progress!

Finish design-fonts, header, comments, color scheme/font blog theme for graphics (not done, getting there)

Take more pictures for posts (don’t rely on stock) (not done)

Social Media Banners. (catagories/tags) (DONE, but changing)

Recaterorize the blog/remove old signatures and pieces of ‘old blog design. (not done but going on my to do list) (!!!)

Health: Make appointments for dental, medical and eye glasses. Be brave! Do whatever needs to be done. (half –done)

Ask questions, write down ahead of time. (not done)

Schedule counselor visit? (not done)

Drink water daily. (with or without flavor drops) (DONE)

Budget: Save money. Go cheap. Stop splurging for nonsense reasons. (not done)

Find ways to substitute or stretch the cash. NEED vs WANT. (not done)

Do more activities and date nights at home. (not done)

Buy generic over store brand. (DONE)

Love:

Date nights weekly. (Friday) (not done)

Kiss more/hug more. (DONE)

Spend quality time talking and getting to know each other more. (not done)

Have better communication (DONE)

 

Some of these “goals” were unrealistic and sorta half thought through anyway, so I’m not knocking myself for those. I just need to understand and create real attainable goals that make sense.

FebruaryGoals

I noticed the one thing I really should have changed was how many things I tried to accomplish. I did make every attempt to try to do each of these. I wanted to start the start of 2016 strong and just bit off more than I could chew. So I’m going to make a point of only picking fewer points to check off my goals this month and hopefully get more done.  So here’s a few things I want to do for this month…

February:

-consistency in blogging (MWF & Sun)

-finish design and clean up archives/categories

-stay on daily schedule/on track with cleaning

-drink more water/shy away from soda

-read daily- blogs, online articles, journals, articles, kindle books, books, magazines, audio books- just keep reading

-write 3 pen pals

-get out and do something fun at least once this month

-work on my self care routine

 

Well I think that is gonna do it for me. This week is about to get exciting because tomorrow I’m going to get a new tattoo (see sleeve, couple of flowers down my arm) done by my favorite tattoo artist and she does a great job! I might actually review this numbing gel I’m going to try called HUSH. If you’re interested in seeing or hearing about it worked or didn’t work for me- please leave me a comment so I know I should do that post!I hope the first week of February was good to you and that it’s nice weather finally where you are; I’m still dealing with rain…

January Goals

January being the first month of the year is a time for optimism and growth; however we all often fall short of our goals and intentions for the new year. Let’s try to make fewer goals per month and FOCUS on being genuine and having all around good intentions with ourselves and others through the month. I tend to create a long exasterbated list of everything to establish my goals and that isn’t the best way to go about acheiving your daily, weekly and monthly goals.

Personal:

Take a day off from social media day.

Finish one book in January.

Daily schedule/weekly schedule, use E.C planner.

So I figure I should start small and accomplish one or two at a time rather than risk failing them all after a week. I’ll incoporate all these into the month but some of these are more ‘in the moment’ types of goals, just starting them and try to improve upon those traits and downfalls of mine. I have so many things I want to work on and I’m sure you do too- I’m glad I retrieved this feeling of making oneself  “better and improved, not stagnant” so that’s a relief! Let’s take it a month at a time… okay Get Ready, Set,…… GO!

Monthly Goal Linkup

November/December Goals

Welcome
I want to make these goals posts a regular monthly thing so I’m going to try my best to keep it up, in addition to new things coming to the blog. I’d like to bring more everyday cooking to my blog and maybe some everyday style and outfits of the day/week, more on my dogs and their lives-all things pets related, subcription boxes-I ordered a new one recently and am expecting it shortly, I believe. This month however is going to be co,bined with December, since it’s already half-over. I can’t wait to begin new things with you on here! I want to cherish my space and it has somehow once again gotten away from that. 
So let’s get back on track together

PERSONAL:

  • finish reading “eleanor & park” and start reading “what alice forgot”
  • write 3 new pen pals
  • read blogs on bloglovin and comment nightly
  • keep the apartment looking nice and clean
  • ask for help with anything when I need it/don’t be so stubborn and helpless
  • get up to date on my favorite new shows
  • watch 2 new movies this month
  • create a daily schedule and stick to it
  • decorate the house for the holidays (Dec 1st)
  • Try to be blackout social media (not blogging) 1x a week (saturdays or sundays)

  1. Use time to read, clean, laundry, go out with friends/family or watch a show/movie uninterrupted
  • budget, plan and save this quarter and perhaps write a guide for our finances
  • research and plan our “getaway” (disney, cruise, hawaii?)

BLOG:

  • Vary my content, new topics to come! (recipes, fashion, budget, faith?) 
  • Build my audience perhaps by starting a newsletter!
  • Grow my social media numbers and keep track of them in my goals page
  • write on the blog 3x weekly. M/W/F or a S/Sun
  • Have guest posts/give guest posts
  • Add more pages to my blog-restructure them to drop lists
  • practice taking more photos while out and about, stock up/social media album, stock photos etc

FITNESS:

  • Go on regular walks for the dogs
  • stretch daily
  • go to gym (at first) 1x a week
  • Find ways to incorporate fitness moves into everyday activities

HEALTH:

  • DRINK MORE WATER!
  • Cut back to one soda a day
  • Brush teeth 2x daily
  • get health insurance!
  • Self love 2x a month

MARRIAGE:

  • regular date nights
  • kiss and hug everyday
  • hold hands more
  • be kind (use nice words and gentle tone)
  • give him the benefit of the doubt-don’t second guess him
  • do one ‘special thing’ before the month is over
  • take interest (truly) in what he’s talking about/better listening skills
  • don’t interrupt him, or talk over him (do your very best)
I think that’s it for now but I created an extra long list for the two month split. I hope I can accomplish most if not all of these goals within these months. And I hope you’ll continue to cheer me on while I do so! I’ll try to give you updates or repost this one as I go so you can see my progress. October Goals- Accomplished?

So this is to touch base on the goals I had for October and see what I got done, was able to accomplish and unable to accomplish. I think I did pretty good (with some help from the husband)

  • Read 2 books _ Eleanor & Park- progress but not finsihed. Didn’t start second book. Page 50 currently/328
  • Pack apartment/organize/purge stuff DONE, DONE DONE
  • Unpack DONE
  • Decorate apartment DONE
  • Donate things we get rid of DONE
  • Get carpets cleaned after moving out DONE 
  • Learn 2 new recipes after we move-slowcooker? half DONE, I learned one for hawaiian bbq chicken. I’ll work on another soon!
  • Blog at least 2 a week while packing/moving  sorta fail/sorta accomplished
  • Create a daily schedule to work on, downloaded now to write it out! failed but working on it
  • Stick with blog post schedule gonna stay with two days a week until we unpack etc. failed but working on it
  • Pre draft and take pics to go with posts DONE, sorta did this but tried to keep up with it
  • Watch 3 new movies (age of adaline, best of me and PP2) DONE, watched Best of Me, PP2 and Paper Towns was another high on my list to watch! Waiting for AofA to come out and Inside Out too.
  • Get pictures hung back up with new frames DONE

(Entry and Hall) Oir living room and bedroom and bathrooms got decorated too- just havent taken pictutres of it all yet.

  • Invite at least one friend over to see new place DONE
  • Photograph new place for “new apartment tour post”-failed but working on it
  • Get in at least an hour of quality time per day with husband  research date nights, ideas for husband and wife time-  the last few days/week has been lovely, less arguments, more talking, more quality time and more kisses and hugs, impromtu date night-SUCCESS! DONE
  • Read, comment and save favorite blog posts for “links I love” –failed I’ll put one up soon start of Nov Goals etc.
  • Start a better self love care plan weekly nails, music, tv sessions, chatting with friends-skype, appt for hair? –DONE  
  • Take dogs out on schedule and play with them regularly everyday research dog feeding schedules-if anyone has this problem with over anxiously eating dogs, PLEASE help! 🙂 any advice ou have?  –DONE 
I’m really happy with what I could get done in a small amount of time and my things to work on I’ll be continuing with through November.Which is mostly blog and reading stuff because I was so focuses on moving and decorating etc. It’d make my day if you wanted to share what your goals were/are and if you were able to tackle them all and which ones you wanna keep working on!
